Catt Gallinger didn’t get the memo about not tattooing parts of your body that don’t qualify as skin and is now in a predictable amount of pain.
The particular type of procedure Gallinger underwent is known as a sclera tattoo and it involves injecting ink directly into the outer layer of the eye. If you’re going crazy enough to go through with it, it would be best to book an appointment with the guy who invented it. In this case: Luna Cobra, who told Yahoo earlier this year that this process is not so much a tattoo as “an implant of ink in the membrane.” Catt did go to Mr. Cobra, who miraculously claims that all his clients are “ok.” Catt went to some other guy to achieve groovy purple eyeballs and he f*cked her up bad.
“So this was done by Eric Brown three weeks ago,” Gallinger wrote on Facebook. “As it stands I will have to see a specialist and am at risk of being blind if it doesn’t get corrected.”
Gallinger is the ultimate body modification cautionary tale. And it’s not just that she decided to dye her eyeballs (which is already dangerous enough), it’s that she left it in the hands of a total amateur (her boyfriend).
Via Time magazine:
|During the procedure, Gallinger said he made many errors. He did not mix the ink with any saline. He used a large needle instead of a small one, which went too deep into the eye. And instead of doing several small dosages, Gallinger just took one large injection during a 10-minute sitting.|
Again, if you absolutely have to dye your eyes, DON’T SETTLE FOR ANYONE BUT A TRAINED PROFESSIONAL.
